Coonoor
The Nilgiris with the noise turned down.
Posted here eleven years ago. Still haven't been reposted. Nobody's complaining, least of all me.
— Capt. Menon, retired-ish, opinions still active"Coonoor is what Ooty was before Ooty had a traffic problem."
Second-highest hill station in the Nilgiris, and quieter for it. Tea estates run right up to the edge of town, and Sim's Park still feels like a private garden that happens to let visitors in.
Good base for slower mornings — fewer crowds, steeper viewpoints, better light for photos.
